I don’t have a current resume. Can you still help me?

I can definitely help you! Once your order is placed, you will be redirected to a page with the questionnaire. The questionnaire will provide me with all of the information I will need to write you the strong resume you need and deserve.

Why is your turnaround time so long?

In order to ensure each client receives the best resume possible, I write every resume myself. I truly care about your success and unlike other resume writing companies, I do not outsource your resume. This results in a longer turnaround time, but it also results in a better product. Demand is also very high for my services due to the quality of my work.

I have more than one career path, what should I do?

If your career paths are completely different (for example: sales and administration), a second resume may be necessary. A second resume is only $20 and that includes your cover letter. If you are unsure if a second resume is required, please feel free to contact me before placing your order and I will be more than happy to provide you with my honest opinion. I am only able to complete the second resume if I complete your first resume as well.

What is a LinkedIn profile and how can it benefit me as a job seeker?

LinkedIn is a professional social networking site. Recruiters also use LinkedIn to source candidates. Having a complete and keyword optimized profile is critical. Your profile includes the information from your resume and you can connect and network with past and present colleagues, friends, and family. You can also have your connections write you professional and/or personal references and endorse your skills!

What if you deliver my resume later than promised?

I have never missed a deadline and I will make sure that you have your resume by the end of the night on the due date. If your resume is not in your inbox by the end of the night on the due date, please check your spam box as the attachments can result in emails being sent to this folder. Your resume will always be sent on time. Please add me to your address book to avoid any issues.

What is the difference between a second resume and the original resume?

The main difference is the summary and core competency list. Additional changes will be made as necessary.

Do you write federal resumes?

Unfortunately, I do not. I do write resumes for clients transitioning from military / federal positions to private sector positions, but I do not write federal resumes.

Do you specialize in certain careers?

I specialize in all career fields. I have thousands of clients from all walks of life and have created resumes for clients in just about every career field.

Why should I hire you?

Why are your fees so low compared to other resume services?

You may ask why I do this and why my fees are so low compared to other resume writing services. I do this because I know that my abilities, knowledge, and skills can make a difference in the lives of others. I absolutely love what I do and I am committed to my work – helping others is my passion. I have made the decision to write every resume myself which allows me to keep my fees low and provide job seekers with an affordable, quality, and personalized service.

Can you still complete a LinkedIn profile or job board posting if you do not write my resume?

Unfortunately, job board postings and LinkedIn profile services are an add-on to the resume service. The profiles would consist of information from your new resume and I could not use a resume that I have not written. If you are seeking to have a resume written, I can provide those services, but they could not be purchased without a resume. If you are unsure if your resume needs to be rewritten, please feel free to email your resume to me and I will be more than happy to provide you with my honest opinion.

What is an ASCII Resume?

An ASCII Resume is a plain text version of your formatted resume. These resumes are used when you do not have the opportunity to upload your resume while applying for jobs. You will copy and paste this version so the resume is properly formatted.

I spoke with you previously and your turnaround time was different than your current turnaround time. Which turnaround time is valid?

The turnaround time now is the one that is valid. The turnaround time can change at any time until your order is placed (once your order is placed, the turnaround time is locked in).

Do you write custom cover letters?

I write custom cover letters, but they are not included in the packages. The cover letters in the package will be a general cover letter targeted towards your field that you can edit based on the position you are applying for.

I emailed you but haven’t heard back. What should I do?

If you emailed me and haven’t heard back, please check your spam box. Emails can be filtered and this is the most common reason. If I do not reply to an email that required a response, please email me again or submit an inquiry via the contact page on this website. I will always reply as soon as possible.

How does your LinkedIn profile and Job Board Posting service work?

I would edit the profiles for you with your new resume. You can provide me with a temporary password if you already have an account or if you do not have an account, I will be more than happy to create one for you. All profiles will be completed after you review your resume to ensure everything is accurate. Please note that you must respond to the email with your documents before I am able to complete the profiles.

What format do you send my documents in? Do you send hard copies?

Hard copies are not sent. Your resume will be sent in Word, PDF, and ASCII (plain text) formats. All other documents will be sent in Word format. I will always attempt to accommodate any requests for additional formats. The documents will only be delivered via email.

How do you obtain my information?

I obtain the information via a current resume (if you have one) and/or a questionnaire which I will provide. Please understand that if you do not inform me if there is any additional information to add, I will not know. It is important that you provide me with any information that you would like to have mentioned in your resume. I will ask any questions I have during the process, but I cannot ask for information I do not know about. Also, please be aware that questions may be asked up until the day the resume is due. It is extremely important to check your emails frequently.

What is your turnaround time?

My turnaround can vary from 46-51 business days (excluding weekends and holidays) from the time the process begins.

Do you offer career coaching services or career advice?

I am not a career coach and would not be able to provide career advice for that reason.

If I ask for my resume faster during the process, will you be able to do it?

Unfortunately, I would not be able to have it any faster than the due date. The turnaround given to you is the fastest I will be able to have the documents. Each client receives the personalized service they deserve and I cannot or will not rush through any resume. No refunds will be given because of the turnaround time.

Can I provide you with new information during the process?

In order for new information to be included by the due date, information must be provided within seven (7) days from the time the process begins. Any information provided after this point would be included in a new turnaround time. You would still receive your documents with the previous information by the first established due date; however, any new information provided after the seven day window would be included within a new turnaround time.

How do I upload my resume on your website or after payment?

There is an upload box on the contact page. There is not an upload option during payment. You can also send all documents directly to my email at resumesbymarissa@gmail.com.

Do you write both Functional and Chronological resumes?

I do not write functional resumes. Functional resumes are almost always discarded and I could never do anything that would hurt a client. I will write you a strong, chronological resume which will be properly formatted for your individual background.

Will you make any changes or additions to my resume if they are necessary?

I will definitely make changes or additions. I always make minor additions or changes free of charge. If the changes are major, a fee may apply and the turnaround may have to be restarted.

Am I able to communicate with you during the process?

Yes, you are! Feel free to email me at anytime, even after your resume is complete. I am always here to answer any questions you may have or help in anyway I can.

Do you use “keywords” or “buzzwords” in the resumes you write?

I do! I am familiar with the keywords for all careers fields and will incorporate them into your resume. Keywords are extremely important in a resume and I will make sure that the right keywords are integrated throughout your resume.

Do you offer a referral or affiliate program?

Yes, I do! Please see the referral program page for additional details.

Will I get to speak with you directly?

I will be the only person you communicate with during the process; however, I must keep my communication to email in order to keep my fees low and give each client the personalized service they deserve. I will be more than happy to answer any questions within my expertise range via email.

Is my privacy guaranteed?

Definitely! I write every resume myself; therefore, your information will not be exchanged among various people and your information will remain strictly confidential. Your information will not be sold or transferred at any time.

Do you accept military performance reports?

Unfortunately, I do not. They contain sensitive information and the documents are extremely lengthy, making it very hard for one person to go through (I do write every resume myself and do not have employees to maintain your confidentiality, ensure you receive the best resume possible, and keep my fees low).

How do I pay you and what forms of payment do you accept?

Payment can be made via the ‘buy now’ links on the services and prices page of this website. Your payment would be securely processed via PayPal and you can pay with any major credit or debit card (you would not need to have an account with PayPal, nor would you need to create one). You can also mail a money order or cash (I will not be responsible for lost cash in the mail). Western Union and MoneyGram are also acceptable forms of payment.

Does a resume have to be one page?

No, your resume would not need to be one page. The length of the resume will depend on your individual background, but if you have extensive experience, an employer will expect a two page resume. In many cases, a one page resume will hurt you as it will not effectively communicate your value. Most resumes should not exceed two pages.

Do you keep copies of my resume?

I only keep resumes for up to two years. Unforeseen circumstances such as a computer crash can reduce the amount of time that a resume will be kept on file. I always recommend backing up your files as there is no guarantee that I will have a copy.

What is the salary search?

For the salary search, I would provide you with the average salary for up to 5 job titles in up to 5 cities. The cities must in the United States. Please note that I am unable to search by company – only by a general job title.

Do you offer expedited service?

I apologize, but I do not offer an expedited service option. I do write every resume myself and could never rush through your resume or anyone else’s.

Do you provide resume samples?

Since each resume is unique, I do not provide samples. Also, maintaining the confidentiality of client data is extremely important to me. Do you offer a guarantee?

As there are many factors that go into a job search, it is impossible for me to guarantee anything. My clients have had amazing results, but I am unable to guarantee this. Feel free to check out the testimonials page and my LinkedIn profile to see reviews from clients.

Once I have a new job, can you update my resume?

I can definitely update your resume with your new job, as long as I wrote the original resume. The fee to add one job is $21. Any other changes or additions will be quoted based on your requirements. Updates will have to be within the listed turnaround time. I recommend updating your resume once you land a new job so you are fully prepared when you are ready to start searching again. A job you are interested in can come up at any time and I don’t want you to miss out on any opportunities due to the turnaround time!
